One thing I love about writing this blog is that I find myself looking for good things on the web, rather than just stumbling around in the cloud of disjointed information. At first, I had a momentary fear that I might have days when it would be hard to find “good” stuff… can you believe that? How funny.
It is not lost on me, by the way, just how closely this matches how we experience life. Imagine if each day when we woke up, we said to ourselved - I am going out today to look for the very best that the world has to offer.
In the spirit of this idea, I wanted to share this video I found on YouTube - it appears to be cuts of advertising video put to the song “Let the Day Begin” by The Call:
I love this song… and appreciate this “engine” that is the world wide web - this thing that enables and empowers people to create all sorts of new works and share them with the world.
Enjoy the video! Enjoy your day!

Somehow, my “knowledge” of science has reduced my appreciation for the things that make life possible here and now.
Knowing that the sun was born and will someday die, and trying to comprehend how the planets likely formed and how the moon makes its way around the earth… these things were reduced to mere mechanics in my mind. In that reduction, so too was reduced my appreciation for the hugely complex and connected and ongoing web of occurrences that makes it all work the way it does, day in and day out.
And with that, I have somehow awoken today just feeling grateful for a new day. Maybe this blog is getting to me - in a good way :)
Music has played such a great role in my life, and especially these past few months. So, I’ll also use this space to share pointers to the gifts that have helped me along the way, and continue to brighten my days.
Today, I am once again really appreciating music by Sara Groves.
Recently, a friend of mine gave me a CD by Sara Groves titled “All Right Here”. I have a number of discs loaded into the player, and today, when this one came on, my daughter commented: “this sounds like angel music”. I couldn’t have said it better myself :)
I really like “Less Like Scars”:
It’s been a hard year
But I’m climbing out of the rubble
These lessons are hard
Healing changes are subtle
But every day it’s…
Less like tearing more like building
Less like captive more like willing
Less like breakdown more like surrender
Less like haunting more like remember
And I feel you here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands a bad situation
But you are able
And in your hands the pain and hurt
look less like scars and more like character
Less like a prison a prison more like my room
Less like a casket more like a womb
Less like dying more like transcending
Less like fear, less like an ending
And I feel you here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands a bad situation
But you are able
And in your hands the pain and hurt
look less like scars
Just a little while ago
I couldn’t feel the power or the hope
I couldn’t cope, I couldn’t feel a thing
Just a little while back
I was desperate, broken, laid out
Hoping you would come
And I need you
And I want you here
And I feel you…
And I feel you here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands a bad situation
But you are able
And in your hands the pain and hurt
look less like scars
And in your hands the pain and hurt
look less like scars
And in your hands the pain and hurt
look less like scars
And more like character
